Discovery of Saudi Arabia oil and rich oil reserves
The discovery of Saudi Arabia oil did not happen until 1938 in an area known as Dammam, but that area is not Dahahran. There are many events that had to occur before oil could be discovered in that area of the world, including establishing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the first place.
Riyadh was taken from the tribe of Rashid in January 1902 by ‘Abd-al’-Aziz ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman Al Sa’ud. His tribe settled there from 1902 to 1913 when he decided to lead his forces against the Ottoman Turks and capture al-Hasa. It was another nine years before he decided to expand his empire again. He captured Nejd in 1923, Hijaz in 1925 and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was established in 1932. This allowed ‘Abd-al’-Aziz ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman Al Sa’ud to be proclaimed king and the rich oil reserves within the country now belonged to his dynasty.
